The February Meeting of the Douglass Farmers’ Market Planning Committee will take place on Thursday, February 9 from 4-6pm. The meeting is open to all community members to share their thoughts or volunteer their help, and to hear about what we’ve planned so far. We will meet in the Douglass Community Association’s board room.

We will be discussing when the market should take place in 2012 and what the primary goals of the market should be. To all who played a part in the success of the first season of the Douglass Farmers’ Market- THANK YOU! We are grateful for the great weather, vendors, performers, customers, and volunteers at all four markets. We will be meeting over the winter to plan the expansion of the market for 2012. Donate Blood and Support the DCA

During our final market of the season, Michigan Blood will be doing a donation drive. For each person who signs up to donate blood, the Douglass Community Association Youth Programs will receive $10. Appointment are preferred, but they also will accept walk-ins. To put your name on the donor list, or if you have questions, please call 269-343-6185.

July 26 Market

Summer is in full swing as our third market approaches. Enjoy music, friends, food and fun at the Douglass Farmers’ Market from 3-7pm today. Visit with animals at Lake Village Homestead Farm’s booth, pick up some fresh fruit and veggies from Gone to Seed, or treat yourself to a delicious fruit cobbler from Cinfully Cinnamon. Most of our other vendors have returned from last month, and we’ve even added a few! Al Barney from the piano shop across the street will be providing music at the beginning of the market, and fresh popcorn will be for sale as usual. Hope to see you there!

June Market this Tuesday!

Join us on Tuesday, June 28 from 3-7pm for the second Douglass Farmers’ Market of the season! Come back for your favorite items from all of the vendors at the first market and check out the new vendors that we’ve added. Fresh popped popcorn, lemonade and bottled water will be available for purchase to help cover some of the costs of the market. We’re also going to have lots of music this week: local musicians from Fontana Chamber Arts will play at 4pm and the a capella group Java Jive will perform at 6:30pm. If you shop with your Bridge card at our market, you will be eligible to receive free Double Up Food Bucks tokens which can be spent on local fresh produce at our market and at other participating markets in Michigan.
