Thank you, Gina.
Gina Rickman served on the planning committee for the Douglass Farmers’ Market since its creation in 2011. She wholeheartedly believed in the project and was always generous with her time and feedback. We will miss her dearly and are so grateful to have had the chance to work with her over the last three years. Her passion for community building was unstoppable- she came down to visit the market last week even though she wasn’t feeling good. May she now rest in peace and may her family and friends get the comfort and support that they need during this time. A public memorial service will be held for her on Tuesday, June 18 at 1pm at Bible Baptist Church on Drake Road. We plan to honor her work to increase access to healthy food at the market tomorrow between 3-6pm. Please stop by the info booth and share your stories and memories of Gina and her dedication as a daughter, mother, and community champion.
New vendors this week include Mz Marilyn and the Michigan Small Food Producers Cooperative. Several special events will take place: a tour of the market at 4:30pm (with free gifts from Kalamazoo Public Library) and a Kalamazoo Valley River Trail scavenger hunt. Please check in at the info booth for details.
